This professional person is responsible for product development and quality assurance with direct responsibility for strategic projects. Leads new product development activities, stewards product commercialization, oversees product quality and drives continuous quality improvements.
Manages quality systems and QA/QC programs including quality control, raw material quality, and in plant quality. A strong balance between technical expertise and business acumen is required along with the ability to mentor team member. The position is a core member of the Executive Team.
Provide leadership and hands-on contribution for innovation, new product development and commercialization that meets customer and business requirements.
Lead technical efforts to support business growth, including formula development and optimization, new product pipeline management and product/process improvements.
Manage Quality team responsible for executing raw material, in-process and finished goods quality protocols, inspections, testing and approval processes.
Champion quality initiatives ensuring product is produced consistently to specification including problem identification, troubleshooting, resolution and continuous improvement.
Oversee HACCP and FDA regulatory compliance including GMPs and GFSI certification.
As Executive Team member, lead technical functions and serve as advisor to balance risk and opportunity while providing support to other functional teams, especially operations.
Bachelor of Science in Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering or equivalent Scientific Discipline. Master’s of Science, Ph.D of Science or M.B.A is preferred but not mandatory
A well-rounded R&D background with a minimum 15 years’ work experience in technical areas such as product development, laboratory management, quality systems, and/or food process engineering. Experience should have been obtained while functioning in managerial positions.
Significant technical and/or business contributions should have been demonstrated through new product launches, product or process improvements and strong technical leadership of projects.
In addition, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team environment, strong sensory and organoleptic abilities, and a deep knowledge of food safety, quality, and regulatory environment including FDA, USDA and GFSI is required
