The Manager, Agribusiness Sales will manage the sales and take away of Corn Gluten Feed and Corn Gluten Meal for the select plants. Build supply relationships, develop new customer accounts and search for new sales opportunities for co-products while optimizing netbacks. Manage portfolio for optimal risk model vs corn. In addition, the position will drive ongoing continuous improvement efforts and develop staff to meet future talent needs.
Animal Feed Ingredient Sales – Maximize Agri-product sales volumes and revenues to achieve budgeted sales and growth targets. Manage execution of sales, negotiate contract terms and assist in or implement Agri-product sales.
Evaluation and Price Forecasting – Analyze markets, economics and competitive products to determine and execute optimal marketing and sales strategies. Prepare business plans, set goals and outline opportunities with a planned approach to implementation.
Shipment/Delivery Coordination – Maintain an efficient product take-away to affect proper grind balance, cost efficiency and product quality. Enhance benefit to customers via coordination of J-I-T delivery of feed ingredients based on customer timetable, while holding demurrage and other additional expenses to a minimum.
Departmental Coordination – Work with directors, managers and other sales representatives to coordinate sales strategies to maximize agribusiness product line revenues. Work with logistics to optimize freight models given customer requirements; Credit or A/R group to ensure timely payment for product shipments and reduce working capital needs; plant operations to ensure product quality, consistency and necessary demand.

Continuous Improvement – Identify opportunities and drive projects to further improve department processes and systems, with a specific focus on quality, efficiency, responsiveness, and standardization of work.
Trade Activities – Stay abreast of developments within trade through industry contacts and association memberships. Participate in industry activities involving trade shows and conferences. Maintain a working knowledge of trade rules and regulations and implement to practice as necessary
Relationships and People:
Cross Functional Relationships - Serve as a liaison between external customers and internal functions to ensure customer needs are met. Travel regularly on customer calls and plant visits.
Staffing/Recruiting - Participate in interview processes with a focus on hiring the best available talent
Team Development –Enhance team capabilities by enabling the creation of meaningful development plans. Provide challenging assignments for team members to realize their potential and meet future talent needs.
Team Communication – Ensure timely communications to the team to share updates regarding team performance trends, department updates, and company news, et al.
Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Sciences, Agri-Business or an equivalent field. Master's degree a plus.
Five or more years of direct people management experience with a proven track record of managing, mentoring, coaching, and developing high performing teams. Includes experience developing stretch goals and objective measures to manage staff and team performance
Direct prior sales experience with track record of success
Strong business acumen with demonstrated ability to analyze data and make fact-based business recommendations and manage/problem solve within a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with multiple priorities
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across functions to resolve issues
Well-developed oral and written communication/presentation skills
Demonstrated history of successful performance, evidenced by career progression and/or stretch assignments with potential and desire to progress into Agribusiness and/or other Supply Chain positions of increasing responsibility and complexity over time after successfully delivering in this role.
