Ingredion is hiring a Principal Beverage Technologist responsible for leading and supporting new sweetener technology projects, focusing on beverage applications and natural high potency sweeteners. The Principal Technologist will develop formulations, as well as support the creation of stability, chemosensory and physicochemical data. In addition, the Technologist will work to support internal go-to-market and customer technical teams to identify formulation challenges, solve problems, and develop new, innovative ideas that advance the organization in the area of sweetness.
As a Principal Technologist, your responsibilities will include:
Working at lab and pilot scale to demonstrate the value of new sweetener technologies through product formulation, focusing on beverage applications.
Working closely with Applications, Technical Service, and Marketing teams to ensure successful commercialization of new products.
Strengthening our understanding of ingredient functionality within food formulations.
Leading and supporting prototype development for customers and trade shows.
Understanding project needs, defining work plans, keeping appropriate records, and providing status updates to project teams and key stakeholders.
Staying engaged with industry trends and technical developments to best respond to customer requests.
The Principal Technologist position is well-suited for you if you:
Have full cycle formulation experience from beginning to end and can execute trials, experiments or scale-ups based on customer & project needs.
Are hands-on, can adapt to shifting priorities and offer creative new ideas.
Like to continuously learn, can trouble shoot and are willing to lead with a high level of independence.
Can prioritize, plan and deliver own goals as part of the team and can interact effectively across all levels of an organization.
BS/MS in Food Science with 3 to 5+ years of full cycle product development experience across product categories.
Experience in beverage product development experience required.
Hands-on applications experience using laboratory and pilot plant equipment (Microthermics, homogenizer, carbonator) with proven in-depth knowledge of formulation and processing (hot fill, cold fill, UHT processes).
Experience working with high potency sweeteners, starches, hydrocolloids, colors, preservatives and flavors is preferred.
Solid project management, project planning and organizational skills with proven ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Excellent written and oral technical communication skills, i.e. writing comprehensive technical reports and making high impact technical presentations internally and to customers.
Demonstrated technical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Experience with experimental design, statistical data analysis & interpretation is preferred.
