The Quality Manager will be responsible for building and evolving the organization to meet the growing complexity now and forward to 2021. This position will drive the implementation of TQM and Quality best practices. This will include the management and development of their direct reports and clear identification of departmental roles and responsibilities. The key aspects of this role are ensuring the specifications are met for all products produced or distributed by PVM USA and maintaining the highest level of food safety systems. This position will be the primary interface for quality issues that arise domestically and internationally, requiring a strong partnership with all stakeholders. Domestically this position will support the primary functional aspects of the business such as Manufacturing, Technology, Sales and Supply Chain. This position will lead the compliance with all regulatory agencies (FDA, USDA etc)
The Quality Manager interacts with nearly every functional area on a routine basis. It is a unique position that is involved with a product from concept to launch and is responsible for monitoring the products quality throughout the life of the product. In this position, the Quality Manager supports development of the product to insure a high quality design and monitors the product after launch to identify improvement opportunities. The position requires the ability to anticipate potential issues and influence internal partners to make the changes required to prevent consumer disappointment.
Assures quality food products and processes by establishing and enforcing food safety programs and quality standards and provides guidance and leadership to operations management on how and when to take corrective action when product does not conform to standards. Strongly contribute to decisions regarding the dispensation of non-conforming products. Develop statistical analysis to improve quality & manufacturing productivity.
Manages Quality Department that includes, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, mentoring, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
Ensures TQM principles are applied to all documents & procedures are developed. All of which need to be up to date and communicated for both Quality, Operations, R&D and group quality; including the develop and ensure food safety plans are updated by reviewing procedures/processes periodically, conducts hazard analysis; identifies critical control points and preventive measures; establishes critical limits, monitors procedures and corrective actions.
Maintains and improves product quality through the efficient investigation of customer complaints and works with other internal/external organizations of the company on quality related issues of products sold by the North American operation. In the unlikely event, a recall is required, the Quality Department initiates it.
Develop product quality metrics, utilize and implement best practices (SPC, Data Analysis, Kaizen etc.) to contribute information and analysis to operations for process improvements; prepares and completes action plans; implements quality, and customer-service standards; identifies and resolves problems; analyses audits; and implements changes.
Oversees the content for GMP, Food Safety, and other Quality related training and stays abreast of ongoing developments in best practices in quality by utilizing relevant trade organizations (e.g. ASQ)
Responsible for the development and management of the departmental annual budget.
Assist R&D in testing new products in Manufacturing
Primary liaison with FDA, third party auditors, regional food safety authorities
Communication internally with manufacturing, marketing, supply chain, human resources leadership regularly
Interact with quality management team at PVM sister units
Quality teams primary point of contact with customers and suppliers
Quality team leadership responsibilities that include communication of PVM USA key initiatives
Direct responsibility for decisions made related to quality department staffing, job assignments, utilization of quality department resources.
Training and development plans for quality staffing to support business goals.
Disposition of product that does not meet requirements.
Food safety and quality evaluations for new suppliers, co-packers and sister unit supply
Change Management of the organizational structure with the evolving business
Responsible for continuous quality improvement for PVM USA products

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITY:
BS in an area of science and 15 years of experience in a food manufacturing plant. 5+ years managing the QA/QC function and teams.
Understanding of Quality Methodology and systems.
Understanding of HACCP, knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and FDA regulations, OSHA and EPA are also required.
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and Microsoft Project Management.
Understands and demonstrated the ability to apply the principals of TQM, SPC & Lean Manufacturing.
Strong communicator with an emphasis on problem solving.
International experience preferred.
