This position is responsible for all aspects of quality assurance, quality control for the Amboy facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leads the teams that review and write all specifications for all finished products including: Reviewing and negotiate specifications with customers, reviewing the specifications for all finished products (both purchased and internally produced goods) and determining compliance of all specifications with the FDA and other regulatory bodies.
Leads the teams that ensure all specifications for incoming raw materials meet the performance and regulatory needs of or manufacturing processes and ultimately our end customers.
Leads the quality assurance team which is responsible for: Ensuring the plant is “audit ready” every day; works with customer and third party auditors to review the GMP of the Amboy facility; manages the customer complaint process including working with functional teams to determine and fix root cause of issues; manages visits by regulatory agencies such as FDA; audits and ensures acceptability of all raw material suppliers; maintains needed records to ensure we are complaint with regulatory bodies, third party audit and customer requirements; monitors the plant for environmental contamination issues; and works with the production teams to address any areas of concern.
Leads the quality control team that is responsible for the testing and passing of all incoming raw materials and finished products. This team also establishes test methods to ensure all raw materials and finished products meet all food safety and quality standards.
Creates, implements, or maintains the policies and standards required to consistently comply with the regulatory and food safety standards necessary for complete customer satisfaction.
Establishes and implements metrics (process capability, quality measurements, etc.) for monitoring system effectiveness and to enable managers to make sound product quality decisions. This includes championing any continuous improvement efforts to raise the performance of the facilities’ product lines.
Champions the education and training of employees as to their impact in the quality management system.
This role will from time to time need to respond to inquiries regarding regulatory issues, both domestic and global, labeling, nutritional data and MSDS.
This role is responsible to understand, interpret and apply current regulations, both domestic and global. It is also responsible for keeping up with regulatory changes and notifying all business units of the changes.
Oversee the renewal and procurement of key certifications such as Kosher, Halal and SGF.
Advises the General Managers of actions that may be required in the event of a quality or food safety incident.
Has direct supervisory responsibility for the Quality Managers and Supervisors.
This person will work closely with all CSL, supply chain and production personnel.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Requires staying current with existing quality regulations and keeping up with changes in food ingredient and flavor regulations throughout the world. Requires interpreting, applying, and relaying quality and regulatory information and analytical data to customers and other business units. Requires ability to react quickly to customer needs and to re-evaluate priorities, make decisions and take actions to meet the customer needs. Must be able to interpret documents, reports, data, and flow charts to develop new programs to drive quality and process improvements.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry Food Science or related fields. A master’s is preferred.
Eight (8) to ten (10) years of Quality/Regulatory and technical service experienced is required.
