Winrock International requests the support of a Farmer-to-Farmer volunteer for a 14-day volunteer assignment (including travel) located in Bugbelle in the Sissala East District of the Upper West Region of Ghana. The volunteer will train members of the Rural Organization of Women Farmers and Agro-Processing Development on how to formulate value-added products using shea butter, groundnut (peanut), and soybean oils to make margarine.
No salary is paid for this volunteer assignment, but all expenses are paid through USAID program funding and logistics are coordinated by Winrock.
The volunteer should have the following qualification and background:
University degree in agro-processing, food science, and/or product development especially shea butter, groundnut, and soybean
Knowledge of the development of value-added products derived from shea butter, groundnut and soybean
Knowledge of chemical engineering or suitable equivalent
He/she should be able to use a computer for report writing and presentations without the assistance of others
Excellent report writing skill
Experience in training and transferring hands-on knowledge to adult farmers
