Winrock International requests the support of a Farmer-to-Farmer volunteer for an 18 day volunteer assignment (including travel) located in East Legon, the Accra Metropolitan district of the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. The volunteer will provide technical assistance for Hendy Farms staff in product development to increase the shelf life on current sauces and jams to between 8 -12 months; introduce a pouring sauce using their base of mango, pineapple, citrus and alternative options with other fruits; conduct nutritional data testing for their products and make recommendations for purchasing equipment such as steam jacket or gas burner, vacuum pressure gauge, PH meter, filling systems for processing selected fruits.
The volunteer should have the following qualifications and background: • Degree and experience in food science and nutrition or related field • 5-10 years’ experience in start-up processing enterprises in developing countries • Experience in training and transferring hands-on knowledge to adults • Good report writing, verbal and communication skills • Ability to use a computer for report writing and presentations without the assistance of others

Additional Salary Information: No salary or consultancy feed paid for volunteer assignments. All assignment expenses paid by Winrock through USAID F2F program funding.
