ACDI/VOCA is currently seeking a Fruit and Vegetable Drying Specialist for an upcoming volunteer assignment in Armenia. A group of farmers are requesting assistance from a Food Drying Specialist to learn best practices in fruit and vegetable drying techniques. They currently grow apricot, peaches, plum, fig, persimmon, apples, pears, tomatoes, etc.
While in-country, the Specialistwill:
Conduct introductory briefing with the RED-NEO and USAID mission (optional)
Deliver training regarding fruit and vegetables drying management
Deliver training on international standards and regulations for drying technologies international best practices with a focus on cooperatives
Deliver training on latest chemical additives free (w/o sulfuring) drying technologies, when the preservation time doesn`t significantly suffer
Deliver training on possible ways to monetize drying process by-products
Provide recommendations for organizing and managing further activities
The assignment will last for approximately 2 weeksin country. Travel and living expenses will be provided.
University degree in Food Technology, Agriculture or some other related topic.
At least 5 years of experience working with dehydrated foods.
Experience using basic methods for food dehydration.
Proficient computer skills including MS Word and Excel
