ACDI/VOCA is currently seeking a Food Preservation Specialist for an upcoming volunteer assignment in Armenia. Local farmers are requesting volunteer assistance to train them on modern practices in preserving fruits, berries, vegetables and herbs such as home canning, freezing, dehydrating, sealing and root cellar use, among others. The assignment will last for approximately 2-3 weeksin country, in addition to preparation and research previous to departure. Travel and living expenses will be provided.
***As part of the Farmer-to-Farmer Consortium, this assignment is made possible through USAID funding. In accordance to USAID guidelines, any candidates submitted for consideration under this project must have a valid US passport or Green Card.***
University degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Home Economics or some other related topic.
At least 5-10 years of experience preserving fruits, vegetables and herbs.
Experience training small groups on proper sanitation practices, temperature requirements, etc.
Proficient computer skills including MS Word and Excel
Available to travel Summer 2020
