Reporting to the Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory Compliance Manage, the Food Safety & Quality Coordinator is responsible for managing all functions related to ingredient quality and safety. The Food Safety & Quality Coordinator provides technical support to the production, inventory & sales teams. This includes review of supplier's FSQA programs, ensuring adherence to internal and customer specifications and continuous improvement of the site's SQF systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
Uphold quality and food safety standards for all ingredient components and finished goods.
Implement a system for managing and improving the Approved Supplier Program & the site’s Organic System Plan; includes assessing suppliers for potential food safety & quality threats.
Troubleshoot raw ingredient quality deviations and effectively communicate resolutions with internal departments and external partners.
Collect, review, and trend quality reports to drive continuous improvement and business objectives.
Assist in the compliance of third-party and regulatory audit programs; lead audits in the absence of the Food Safety, Quality & Regulatory Compliance Manager
Occasionally perform on-site supplier visits for auditing and business development projects; includes both domestic and international suppliers.
Maintain supplier and customer document databases.
BS or BA degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Fruit & Vegetable Management, Ag Business or other similar field of study. A background in food manufacturing or quality assurance may be substituted in place of a degree.
Minimum 1 year of experience working in a food manufacturing environment.
Proficient understanding of food safety & quality assurance principles, HACCP, FSMA and GFSI standards. Ability to effectively communicate requirements to non-FSQA associates.
Self-motivated: Able to work independently with limited supervision. Proactive and takes initiative without being prompted.
Collaborator: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams across different levels of management
Problem-Solver: Ability to draw from technical knowledge and experience to analyze and resolve issues

Preference given to Bilingual applicants: English & Spanish; written & verbal proficiency.

Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain
Valid authorization for international travel or the ability to obtain
Food manufacturing setting. Role will be based out of an office/lab type setting. Requires occasional work in the processing or cold storage area which may include physically lift up to 30 pounds, climbing ladders, and working around wet conditions.
