Food Recipe Development
Creates new recipes on textured wheat protein, textured pea protein, resistant wheat starch (dietary fiber) and specialty wheat proteins and starches
Develops plant-based meat alternative products with high customer appeal
Food products developed must meet excellent sensory and quality standards normally expected in retail, food service and restaurants
Manages the day-to-day operation of the Culinary Kitchen and trials in the Meat Lab
Manages the design, development, preparation, cooking and presentation of foods for demonstration at Food Shows (IFT, NRA, RCA, etc.) and at customer locations
Provides expert advice on food applications of entire portfolio of company’s ingredients
Sales and Customer Support
Working jointly with Sales, provides customer-facing food applications support in domestic and overseas markets to boost ingredient sales. This would require around 30% travel
Conducts technical presentations and training of customers, brokers, distributors, and MGP staff to gain better understanding of ingredient applications in various food systems
Publishes developed recipes as marketing materials for trade magazines, journals, and newsletters to communicate ingredient benefits.
Provides technical information in response to media interview or inquiry
Keeps abreast of industry trends in culinary arts as they relate to MGP’s business
B.S. degree in Culinary Science or Culinary Arts
Minimum 2-5 years of experience as Culinary Chef dedicated to recipe creation
Training or certification in making vegetarian/vegan, blended meat, bakery, pasta, noodle, processed meat, confectionery dessert and snack products preferred
Solid experience in meat and plant-based meat alternative applications
Excellent communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Strong knowledge of proper food handling practices and food safety/sanitation standards that are compliant with local, state and federal regulations
Proficient in menu planning
Good attention to details
Solid understanding of ingredient functionality
Strength in application of colors, flavors, spices and seasonings
