Erie Foods International, Inc., specializing in dairy protein ingredients is currently seeking an individual to fill the position of Laboratory Supervisor. Erie Foods offers a competitive salary and benefits package.The successful candidate will supervise day to day laboratory activities at our Rochelle, Illinois, plant to support our quality programs. The ability to effectively communicate within the business and externally is a key requirement. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science in Food Science or other closely related fields with relevant processing or production experience
Strictly adhere to all company policies pertaining to such issues as Good Manufacturing Practices, Safety Procedures and Human Resource issues.
Coordinate lab staff to complete microbiological, analytical & physical testing
Coordinate, interpret & report results in order to assist in qualifying raw materials for production and finished materials for shipment
Troubleshoot in instances of Out-of-Specification results
Coordinate calibration & maintenance of lab & process testing equipment.
Assist in the implementation of new methods as required.
Coordinate self-audits & check sample program.
Manage the development and performance of laboratory staff.
Provide support to the Quality Management System as required.
Investigate and respond to customer complaints.
Assist and manage sample requests from EFI departments.
Ensure laboratory operates in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices.
Bachelor’s degree, Associate or Science background strongly desirable.
Basic computer skills, intermediate use of Microsoft office programs.
Previous experience in the food industry strongly desirable.
Above average work and attendance record.
Leadership and management skills desirable.
Availability to work overtime on short notice
