It’s an exciting time to be part of IFF, we have MULTIPLE open Flavorist positions and we are looking for our next Flavorist to become part of our industry-leading Re-Imagine Modulation® team! As a Flavorist at IFF, you will have the opportunity to create and contribute to the formulation and development for some of the most exciting projects in the flavor and beverage industry today. Working in a collaborative team environment, IFF will be looking for you to drive innovation and creativity to assist our customers in enhancing existing product lines and in launching new cutting-edge product initiatives.
This position will work with the Global Innovation Program Director to support testing, the design, and commercialization of new modulation technologies to address the increased consumer desire for great tasting, healthy food and beverages.
To be successful in this role you must have minimum of 7 years of experience in the Flavor Industry within a creative function. A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Food Science is required to be in this role. You will also need to have completed a qualifying Flavorist Training Program and be a Certified Member of the Flavorist Chemist Society. It would be a bonus if you have a MS/PHD in biological or chemical sciences.
You will be expected to: • Help establish excellent relationships with R&D, Regional Creation and Application to ensure alignment of priorities and resource allocations and drive program agenda • Work with Interdisciplinary development teams with scale up, and plant production • Implement new technologies with effective communication and training programs targeted at internal users (Flavorists & Application Staff) and sales personnel. • Work in a geographically distributed matrix organization. • Travel internationally and participate in conference calls with regions in other time zones
As a Flavorist, you will spend your time… • Support Re-Imagine Modulation® initiatives to meet customer and internal project requirements, identify potential risks and develop creative solutions to address technical flavor issues • Work closely with R&D and external partners to evaluate new raw materials and assess potential for future use in creating new flavors • Troubleshoot and support manufacturing and other commercial issues. • Serve as a technical expert in flavor creation techniques and provide meaningful input into category initiatives • Keep up to date on novel food ingredients offerings in marketplace • Actively participate in global project teams, working closely with project management office • Interacting with key customers regionally and globally to understand requirements and build solid relationships • Participate in development programs for both trainee & associate application technologists • Maintain safe work practices
Communication and excellent presentation skills • Proven successful mentoring or managing junior technical teams • Smelling skills – Olfactory • Excellent project management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize • Fluent in English, additional languages highly desirable • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in flavor industry creative function • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Food Science • Successful completion of a formalized Flavorist Training Program • Certified Member of the Flavorist Chemist Society • Expertise/knowledge in cross category end-use applications Beverages, Dairy, Sweet Goods and Snacks • Exceptional tasting skills and extensive knowledge in Flavors development, technical & applications, quality and manufacturing of Flavors • Strong knowledge in food safety, raw materials, food regulations, and sanitations • Working knowledge of stage-gate process • Cross-Category flavor development (savory, sweet, dairy, and/or beverage) is a plus
