Department: Production FLSA Status: Exempt Reports to: Chief Operating Officer Supervises: Jr. Batch Maker Working Hours: Full-time; Monday through Friday JOB SUMMARY The Batch Maker is responsible for the daily batch making operations of the Company’s products including but not limited to: bitters, botanical waters, brines, mixes and cordial syrups. This position ensures that the Company’s products meet specific standards through the measurement, weight and mixture of raw ingredients. This position makes sure that batches are produced efficiently and safely within the established quality and production standards. The Batch Maker also assists and may be responsible for the development of new product recipes. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Ensures that the quantity of products manufactured align with product demands and generates recipes based on the demand and space limitations. • Confirms there are efficient raw materials in stock before mixing ingredients or staging raw materials for batches. • Implements processes to limit the waste of raw materials. • Collaborates with the Office to ensure proper stock and inventory of materials and communicates when supplies are low. • Measures, weighs, mixes and blends raw materials according to specific recipes to consistently produce products of specified flavors, textures, clarity and color. • Conducts tests and inspections on product samples by measuring BRIX, salinity and pH balances. • Ensures product integrity once materials are combined or mixed. • Maintains knowledge of Company products, recipes and quality control requirements. • Consistently checks all product quality and batch making work including the work conducted by the Jr. Batch Maker. • Develops or assists in the development of new product recipes. SUPERVISORY DUTIES • Develops and documents batch making procedures. • Hires, trains, and supervises Jr. Batch Makers employees and has general oversight over the Batch Making processes. • Monitors and evaluates the performance of the Jr. Batch Makers recommending personnel actions as needed to Company Executives and Owners. • Oversees routine department activities to ensure that they are completed accurately and on time. • Sets and facilitates the achievement of batch making objectives. OTHER DUTIES • Accomplishes all other duties and tasks as appropriately assigned or requested. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE • A minimum of three years of batch making experience, or an equivalent combination of related work experience, training and/or education sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job is preferred. • Bachelor’s degree in food science, microbiology or chemistry preferred. • Supervisory training or experience preferred. • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
