This job contributes to CuliNex success by planning and executing our business development strategy, programs and tactics. This role has wide ranging responsibilities for developing strategy, programs and tactics that drive year over year sales growth. Specific activities include leading annual sales planning and budgeting activities, sales strategy and program development. The Director will represent CuliNex at tradeshows, industry meetings and networking events as the senior Sales Executive. The Director will oversee all sales and contracting activities and manage the Sales funnel to meet sales objectives. The Director of Business Development will coordinate with the Director of R&D, the Director of Marketing, Project Managers, and the CEO on a weekly basis to ensure alignment on all sales activities. The Director must exhibit CuliNex core competencies and adhere to its core values.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities will include business development strategy, programs, tactics and execution, coordination of sales activities with R&D Project Managers, development of sales systems, procedures and tools, establishment and maintenance of sales metrics and records, consultation on organizational development, assistance with marketing programs, and the representation of CuliNex to industry in a way that continuously enhances CuliNex reputation and creditability in the marketplace.
Essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Lead development of the company’s annual business development strategy, identify business development programs necessary to achieve the strategy’s objectives, and support those programs with rationale, budgets and ROI assumptions that will be tracked throughout the year.
Execute sales tactics that generate quality clients and meaningful projects in the quantity necessary to meet company growth targets.
Work in close coordination with Project Managers and co-Directors to develop SOWs and project plans that are efficient and competitive. Coordinate Sales to R&D project hand-offs, and act as the ongoing Relationship Manager for clients throughout the lifecycle of the relationship.
Utilize company CRM and Project Management software to track leads, prospects and contracts to predict future revenues and staffing needs.
Develop and manage sales systems, tools, procedures and metrics that allow leadership real time access to sales funnel data.
Participate in weekly one on one planning meetings with the CEO to prioritize and budget against sales initiatives. Track and report progress during the week as needed to accomplish planned priorities. Lead weekly Sales meetings and participate in weekly Project Manager’s meetings.
Participate as a member of the Leadership Team in setting overall company strategy and operational priorities. Provide insights into personnel development, organizational decision making, growth plans and competitive strategy. Attend the monthly Leadership meeting.
Lead and motivate staff to improve customer service with clients.
Assess costs, competition, and supply and demand to identify appropriate project pricing.

Responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and scheduling of projects and project teams, efficient allocation of resources.
Assist Project Managers as a SME (subject matter expert) in projects where you have specialized product, processing, co-man or packaging development knowledge. Assist with sourcing and utilizing ingredient vendors and co-mans where you have unique relationships.
Supervise sales contractors and consultants to achieve targeted results.
Education and Experience
Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in sales, business, or the sciences. Graduate level degree preferred.
A minimum of ten years of applicable work experience in the food industry. Consultancy experience a plus.
Certifications and Licenses
Possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
Professional certifications preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent communication skills in English – both oral and written.
Customer service and satisfaction focused behavior and interaction with all industry partners and prospective clients.
At a minimum, Intermediate user of Outlook, Excel, Word. Knowledge of Teams/SharePoint a plus. Experience with CRM programs a plus.
Physical Work Abilities and Requirements
This position requires frequent travel (up to 60%), walking, typing, and sitting for extended periods.
Telecommuting is allowed.
