The USDA-ARS is seeking a highly qualified candidate for a permanent, full-time scientific position to be located at the Oregon State University Mid-Columbia Agriculture Research and Extension Center (OSU-MCAREC) in Hood River, Oregon.
This position affords the opportunity to:
Develop an innovative, highly visible, postharvest research program focusing on identification of pre- and postharvest horticultural practices that influence pear and sweet cherry fruit quality.
Interact with pear and sweet cherry producers, packers, and shippers to identify knowledge gaps limiting industry progress and develop research objectives consistent with industry needs.
Contribute to and participate as a team member of the ARS National Program 306 Product Quality and New Uses project based in Wenatchee, WA.
Collaborate with OSU-MCAREC personnel as well as tree fruit research groups in the PNW including ARS and university scientists, and other domestic and international scientists as appropriate.
