Sundial Foods, Inc. is an early stage plant-based meats company based in San Francisco, California. The candidate would be foundational to the team, and would work on a variety of exciting projects, leading our efforts around upscale and industrial process design in collaboration with contract manufacturers and larger industry partners. Previous experience in manufacturing and equipment design is required, and the candidate must demonstrate the ability to problem solve and draw on knowledge of industrial systems in order to solve novel challenges.
Key Activities: - Drive the upscale planning of a novel line for plant-based meat alternatives - Hypothesize and iterate process designs, with particular attention to quality and safety - Identify key bottlenecks and increase processing efficiency while minimizing cost - Test equipment and recommend modifications to equipment and parameters as necessary - Apply bench scale learnings to pilot and industrial scale settings
Start date is as early as September 1st. Due to an ongoing contract of Sundial's, the candidate will be presented with the unique opportunity to collaborate with and learn from experienced process engineers from one of the world's largest food companies, while still being a key leader within a startup.
Work will be split between New Jersey and California.
Ideal Requirements: - Experience or desire to work in a fast-paced, quickly growing startup environment - Experience with planning and implementing a scale up from pilot to industrial scale
Essential Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree + 3 years of prior experience in the food manufacturing industry OR Master's/PhD in food technology, process engineering, or a related field - Deep technical knowledge of food manufacturing and production. - A team player and effective communicator who demonstrates leadership and initiative - An open, innovative, and creative mindset
