Innophos is seeking a New Product Development Senior Manager with extensive expertise in the Bakery Industry for a role based in our Cranbury, NJ location. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and be a key contributor driving initiatives to develop and launch new products/solutions for the bakery market.
Provide leadership and technical expertise to drive technology-based new product development and solutions for our customers.
Utilize technical expertise and effective management style to lead, develop and execute technical plans including experimental design, conducting research, collecting, and analyzing data, communicating project status internally and externally, generating reports, supporting plant trials and product launches.
Function as Bakery subject matter expert on ingredient solutions for (mostly sweet) baked products, offer technical insights and support to internal and external customers.
Assess emerging innovative technologies to strengthen and accelerate our strategic growth plans.
Collaborate with customers in joint product/application development projects
Identify market needs and new opportunities for our existing food portfolio.
Drive development of new capabilities and tools to enable faster and robust customer solutions.
Play a leading role in the launch and commercialization of new product solutions.
Collaborate with Finance and other functions (e.g., Sales, Manufacturing, Business/Product Management) to build cost models to support successful new product launch
Present technical solutions in a way that is easy for laymen to understand the value and impact—for both internal and external (e.g., customers, trade shows) audiences.
Manage, coach and develop team members.
Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
Required Education and Experience
Advanced degree in Bakery Science, Food Science, or related scientific field.
10+ years of experience in Bakery R&D/New Product Development, Technical service and/or Plant Support—ideally both at the ingredient and commercial bakery level.
Experience working with a broad range of ingredients (and suppliers), formulations, applications, technologies, and processes in Baking Industry.
Experience working with customers and in commercial bakeries (e.g., running trials).
Familiar with a broad range of equipment typically found in commercial bakeries.
Ability to travel up to 25%.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Recognized expert with regional and global customers in the Bakery segment.
Broad formulation, ingredient development and food processing knowledge in Bakery.
Proven success in formulation and application development.
Demonstrated experience in managing complex, strategic projects meeting aggressive timelines and within budget.
Proven success in managing and mentoring direct reports and working with cross-functional teams and initiatives.
Ability to work in a challenging environment successfully managing competing priorities.
Solid verbal and written communication skills; Strong presentation abilities with all audiences and levels of management.
Recent experience teaming with Sales to promote new technology-based solution—a plus.
