Research and Development
Conduct research projects on lab and pilot scales with the intention to develop and commercialize new value-added, wheat-based ingredients that address increased demands for clean label, healthy and functional products.
Manage the operations of the R&D Pilot Plant Area for new product development projects; supervise an assistant (Operator) in conducting research projects
Actively work with Operations and Quality on plant scale-up trials of newly developed ingredients and assist in the operational improvements of current ingredients.
Technical Sales Support
Actively provide technical sales support by conducting technical presentations and product demonstrations, performing applications studies, answering technical questions, providing and demonstrating products with customers.
Keep good records of procedures and data from daily work; analyze data and compute results from laboratory work; summarize and prepare reports and presentations; assist in patent preparation.
Instruct and train company personnel as well as ingredients brokers and distributors in an effort to deliver the knowledge and solutions about MGPI products.
Technical Information Management and Personal Development
Attend scientific meetings such as Cereals & Grains Association and food shows such as IFT to follow up the current cutting-edge knowledge, process and products, and generate new ideas and concepts to better implement MGPI research projects; keep abreast of technological developments through books, magazines, technical papers and the internet to ensure advanced knowledge of innovations.
Ph.D. in Food Science, Grain Science or Cereal Chemistry
Minimum of 2-5 years of bench-top lab experience preferred
Solid experience in chemistry and biochemistry techniques required
Knowledge and technical skills in protein/carbohydrate chemistry, dietary fiber chemistry, starch modification, protein modification, extrusion, ingredient interactions, food chemistry and baking applications are desired.
