Job Summary

The Food Safety & Compliance Program Lead is responsible for analyzing retail locations food safety performance to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal food laws. Coordinates with regional and operational leadership to drive compliance by understanding gaps, verifying corrective actions are complete, while adjusting processes and audit criteria.  The position reports directly to the Food Safety & Compliance Manager.  

NOTE:  The company will only consider those not needing sponsorship.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections at company-owned and franchised units for compliance with internal, retail partner, and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct in-field training for Hissho Sushi employees and franchisees to ensure quality and food safety standards are maintained.
  • Interprets and advises regional operations teams on third party service providers and regulatory inspections.
  • Develops science-based food safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Collaborates with a cross-functional team to develop technical training and to advice stores on food safety requirements and continuous improvement processes. 
  • Collaborates with regional retail operations and supplier quality assurance team to deliver safe and high-quality products. 
  • Works with regional operations team to improve food safety and quality metrics.
  • Assists with the investigation and resolution of customer complaints, product safety and quality issues. 

 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Nutrition, Food Science, Food Safety or Public Health.
  • Recent Grads and/or Health Inspectors strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Preferred Food Safety Certifications – Seafood HACCP and Registered Sanitarian (RS), Certified Professional Food Safety (CPFS), or Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS)
  • Understanding food safety regulations, laws, and best practices, including those from the FDA and other state and local entities.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook. 
  • Must possess strong organizational, and planning skills
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of integrity and accountability
  • Ability and flexibility to travel up to 75%
  • Excellent follow-up skills
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Must be comfortable working independently
